What this estimate includes
The calculator separates the energy charge, demand charge, fixed customer charges, and taxes or riders. Energy is priced from monthly kilowatt-hours. Demand is priced from the highest billed kilowatts multiplied by the utility's demand rate. Keeping these parts separate makes it easier to see whether reducing total usage or lowering a short peak has more value.
Where to find the inputs
Look for total kWh, billed demand or peak kW, the energy rate, and the demand rate on the current bill or tariff. Some utilities use multiple energy periods, seasonal demand prices, ratchets, or riders. Add those charges carefully, and use the result as a planning estimate rather than a utility quote.

How to improve the estimate
Start with the actual billed peak rather than equipment nameplate capacity. Use the exact billing-period energy, include recurring fixed fees, and check whether taxes apply to the full subtotal. Compare the result with a recent normal month before using it for a budget or equipment decision.
